On August 2, 2008 Fenway Park hosted Conquer Cancer Day which represents a partnership among The Wellness Community-Greater Boston, The Friends of Mel Foundation and the Boston Red Sox to enhance the awareness of the free support, education and stress management programs available to people with cancer and their loved ones.
The fourth annual Conquer Cancer Day was held at Fenway Park on Saturday, August 2nd as the Boston Red Sox hosted the Oakland Athletics. During the pre-game ceremonies, The Wellness Community conducted a home plate ceremony.
*Steven Cantor Life Medical Technologies, Inc* focuses on the early detection of cancer and was on hand at Fenway Park for Conquer Cancer Day. As a fellow cancer survivor and because of *Steven Cantor Life Medical Technologies, Inc** * involvement and commitment to the early detection of cancer he was initially contacted and invited to throw out the first pitch of the game, but he opted to have someone else do the honors. Joey Kramer of Aerosmith was the enlisted to throw out the first pitch that evening.
Boston Red Sox infielder Kevin Youkilis hit two home runs that evening, *Steven Cantor Life Medical Technologies, Inc** *was one of the fortunate few to catch one of those home runs while he was sitting in the Big Green Monster section at Fenway Park. After catching the homerun ball, Steven graciously gave the ball to the daughter of Aerosmith’s manager (see picture above).
